Every translation we deliver carries a certification statement, so we only work with translators certified by a recognised Canadian provincial association. Working toward it? We’d be glad to hear from you once certified. Get in touch

Before you join

Who can join Certilate as a translator?
Certified translators in Canada who hold certification with a recognised provincial association — ATIO, OTTIAQ, STIBC, ATIA, ATIS, ATIM, CTINB, ATINS or NKT — and are members in good standing.
Who sets my price?
You do. You submit your own price and turnaround time for each opportunity. Certilate’s applicable service fee is added separately to the client price — it is never deducted from your quoted amount.
Is there a registration fee?
No. Registration is free, and there is no obligation to accept jobs.
Am I obliged to accept assignments?
No. You decide which opportunities suit you. Joining Certilate does not oblige you to accept any assignment, and you remain independent throughout.
Do I need to upload my certificate to register?
No — you can register first and upload afterwards. The sooner you upload it, the sooner verification completes and assignments can start coming your way.
Can I register more than one language pair?
Yes. Add as many source-to-target pairs as you are certified for, and assignments are matched to the pairs on your profile.
Does the AI translate for me?
No. The workspace handles the document — OCR on scans and photos, checking names and numbers for consistency, and generating the certified export. The translation is yours, and so is the certification you sign. Certilate does not deliver machine translation to clients.
How much time does the workspace actually save?
Much of the time on a certified job goes into document handling rather than translating it. OCR removes the retyping and consistency checks catch the slips, so more of the hour is spent on the work you are paid for. Automatic layout matching is in development.
How are opportunities matched to me?
By your certified language direction and the requirements of the job. Certilate also aims to distribute opportunities fairly across the network rather than concentrating them with a few translators.
